Uganda's technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector is being realigned with the demands of the job market, according to Daily Monitor. The shift covers curriculum changes as well as new approaches to how students are tested and certified.
As part of the changes, the government has introduced artificial intelligence training within TVET, NewVision.co.ug reports. The move is intended to give trainees skills that reflect current industry practice.
Assessment is also changing. UVTAB, the body responsible for vocational qualifications, has unveiled competence-based examinations, according to NTV Uganda. Under this approach, learners are evaluated on demonstrated ability rather than only on written tests. Separately, PML Daily reports that UVTAB has listed 71 diploma programmes approved for assessment and certification.
